Description
Mt. Wilson is located within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County, California. The summit sits at at 5,712′ (1,740 m) and is not naturally noticeable from a distance. However because it is heavily utilized for relay broadcasting of radio and television for the great Los Angeles area there are numerous large antennas near the summit making it easily identifiable. This is not the tallest peak in the vicinity but is at a high enough elevation that snow will sometimes can occur. It is a subsidiary peak of nearby San Gabriel Peak and the location of the Mount Wilson Observatory.
